Inter are reportedly working to make Francesco Acerbi’s transfer permanent after his loan from Lazio at a discount on the agreed fee.

The 35-year-old centre-back was a specific request from coach Simone Inzaghi, who had already worked with Acerbi at the Stadio Olimpico.

Following a row with Lazio ultras, Acerbi was pushed out of the club and brought in at Inter on loan with an option to buy for €3.5m.

He became a key figure in the Nerazzurri squad that has won the Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana and will play the Champions League Final against Manchester City in Istanbul on June 10.

The veteran has 46 competitive appearances this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

According to FCInterNews.it, agent Federico Pastorello is hard at work to reduce the asking price and get Acerbi on a discount, knowing that he would not return to Lazio in any case due to that tension with the supporters.

Inter are aiming to get it down to circa €1.5m, or even less if some of it is reduced to performance-related bonuses rather than a guaranteed fee.
