When Serie A returns in January after the World Cup break, DigitalBits will no longer be on Inter’s shirts, forcing them to find a new sponsor.

The Nerazzurri previously had tyre manufacturer Pirelli as a key part of their shirts, dating back to the 1995-16 season, but the local brand was replaced last year by Fan Token provider Socios last year. After only a year, they too were replaced in favour of blockchain outfit DigitalBits, but things have not gone smoothly in the post-Pirelli era.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, DigitalBits have defaulted on their payments to Inter, failing to shore up the summer instalment and likely to miss out on the October one as well. Time is starting to run out for the Nerazzurri, who now only have a few months to find a new main shirt sponsor.

Usually these kind of deals take several months to set up, but time is not on the side of the Lombardy club, forcing them to work fast. Fans were upset to see Pirelli’s time come to an end and now they’ll have to wait to see who’ll become a new feature of their kits.
