The Nerazzurri have invested heavily in new players this summer, leading many to tip them as potential contenders for the title.

However, the Colombian midfielder urges caution, believing the focus should be on returning to European competition.

“Let’s say we must return to the Champions League,” Guarin considered in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“To talk about the Scudetto now would be premature. Less talk more action.

“This bad time for Inter cannot last. It’s been a great transfer window, despite the UEFA sanctions. Now [Coach Roberto] Mancini and the club have given us clear targets.

“Juve won’t be the same, but winning for [four] years means they’re favourites anyway, even if the transfer market suggests they’re a bit closer [to the chasing teams].

Milan? They’re building a good team, [Carlos] Bacca is fast, powerful and impressive in attack. He moves well without the ball, so gets a lot of passes in the box.”

Guarin then gave his assessment of the new signings, reserving special praise for his international teammate Jeison Murillo.

“He [Murillo] has been a surprise for others, but not for me. I saw the Jeison I know: quick, aggressive, and helpful in building play. He’s only 24, but he’s a natural leader.

“As for the others, [Martin] Montoya is from Barcelona. Miranda is a top player, he’ll bring experience and a winning mentality. He shows that every day in training, not just the matches.

“[Geoffrey] Kondogbia is young, but he’s really hungry to win, and he knows what it means to wear a historic shirt like ours.

“Has Jovetic signed already? I’ve already played against him. He has a great personality, and is absolutely deadly one-on-one.”
