Six Inter first team players have entered the last years of their contracts, forcing the club to reflect with the Club World Cup on the horizon.

The Nerazzurri have been fairly quiet in the early stages of the summer transfer window, only completing deals for Josep Martinez, Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi. Albert Gudmundsson has been tipped as a top target, but no deal has been completed with Genoa yet.

Inter have also looked internally to retain their key stars, setting up new contracts for Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella, locking down some of Simone Inzaghi’s most important players ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Six Inter players enter last year

Page 22 of today’s Corriere dello Sport highlights how six Inter players have entered the last years of their contracts – Denzel Dumfries, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij, Matteo Darmian, Marko Arnautovic and Raffaele Di Gennaro.

The Dutch wing back is considered the only immediate priority and talks will continue next week to try and set up a new deal. For the others, the club are happy to wait and see how next season progresses.

One relevant factor is the Club World Cup, scheduled for June and July next year. Should any of these six not extend their contracts, they’d be unable to take part in the tournament with the Milanese club.
