Inter have officially abandoned the Super League project thanks to a clause included in their contract with the organizers of the breakaway competition.

The Nerazzurri were part of the 12 elite European clubs that announced the Super League less than a year ago. It collapsed within 48 hours with Premier League giants quitting the project, followed by Inter, Milan and Atletico Madrid.

Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona are still involved and the Old Lady’s President Andrea Agnelli insisted yesterday that the Super League ‘did not fail.’

However, he added that the contracts signed one year ago are still valid for 11 of those 12 clubs.

“UEFA knew that I as Juventus president was working on something different,” said Agnelli.

“The Super League is a collective work of 12 teams, not one person. Twelve clubs signed a 120-page contract and it is still binding for 11 of those clubs.”

According to COPE, Inter are the only team that has formally managed to quit the competition. The Serie A champions had a clause that allowed them to pull away from the project if it didn’t gain the support of all of their sponsors.

9 thought on “Why Inter are the only team that formally quit the Super League”
  1. Ceferin and Agnelli have had a lovers spat and are taking it out on each other in public.

The two should step down from their active roles.

Zhang had formally left because they are looking to sell the team and only want to be involved in anything that will raise market value.

Let’s be clear….everyone involved are opportunistic clowns.
Excess of money both positively and negatively impacts the game.
Determining if its net positive or net negative that is the key…

  2. Imagine if Juve and Real Madrid president sue the remaining clubs. I wonder how that will go down with the fans.

  3. The idea of a league with Agnelli as a president or pioneer is as interesting as swapping your brain with a sheep to ignore their glorious history of match-fixing for over a decade.
There wouldn’t be any other Calciopoli scandals. they don’t need to buy the referees, they gonna own the whole league. 😂

  4. I still do not know why Juventus want to create a Super League when they are clearly not an elite team in terms of European competition. Win a few CL’s first then we can talk. The same goes for Arsenal and the other loser club in North London.

  5. Lord Allegri – Juve has won CL’s and if you consider them not an elite team then Inter and Mial are even further away from a Euro elite. Over the last 10 years Juve were the only Italian team likely to win one and were just pipped in two finals by two teams playing at their very best. Heck Inter and Milan either couldn’t make top 4 in that time or got pathetically bundled out in the group stages. Juventus will always be considered the biggest club in Italy and that makes them a Euro elite.
As for the Super League, it’s the only way forward for Italian teams to have any chance of playing on some level playing field with EPL teams, PSG and Bayern. Unfortunately, Juve is the only club with the balls to stand up to UEFA, whilst coward clubs like Inter and Milan back down at the slightest threat from that incompetent Ceferin. Both clubs are as weak

  6. @Frankie Juventus have not won a CL in the 21st Century and all major clubs have done it twice or at least once. Milan have 7 CL’s as you are aware and like it or not they’re part of Europe’s elite. Heck even Inter have won more. You can laud 38 Scudetti (minus 2 perhaps) but that is chump change compared to winning in Europe. I am not against a Super League as the CL was created out of an idea, so why not modernise. My issue is Agnelli is leading this and Juventus have no right to be compared to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern, Milan and Man Utd. They are the big guns in terms of power discounting Milan from the pulling power to get the best players. Italy is an economically bankrupt and the economy has not grown in 20 years. How a country that can make a Ferrari, Lamborghini and the best marble in the world, but not be able to modernise their basic core infrastructure is shameful. Also stop going on about the 2 lost CL finals. They are serial chokers (7/9) and that is a world record in itself. The difference is Real win their finals and Milan tend to as well. Elite level clubs with an elite level mentality. Milan never played slow ball on the continent when they won.

  7. Lord Allegri, please keep spewing your Juventus hate, we love it when opposition fans are envious of Italy’s biggest club and Euro elite.
