Inter are intensifying their negotiations for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram, hoping to get a deal done for €30m.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, the talks are progressing well and the Nerazzurri are confident of striking an agreement.

It’s reported in Italy that Inter offered €25m plus bonuses only to see that rejected.

The clubs remain in contact and they trust the happy medium can be achieved at €30m.

The son of ex-Juventus and Parma defender Lilian Thuram just turned 24 earlier this month and is under contract with Borussia Monchengladbach until June 2023.

Primarily playing wide left, but also a centre-forward or on the right, he scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists in 40 competitive games last season.

Thuram is seeking a new challenge, as Borussia Monchengladbach did not qualify for Europe’s major competitions this season, whereas Inter are in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri turned towards Thuram after baulking at Atalanta’s €30m asking price for their 30-year-old Colombia international Duvan Zapata.

More than financial, they are also trying to give different attacking options to new coach Simone Inzaghi, using Lautaro Martinez as a centre-forward in future.
