Inter have reportedly started preparing a new two-year contract for defender Stefan de Vrij as they look to finalise his renewal with the club.

The 30-year-old Dutchman’s current deal expires at the end of this season and he’s on track to leave on a free transfer, something the Nerazzurri want to avoid. Inter are already preparing to lose Milan Skriniar in the coming months and want to maintain some regularity in Simone Inzaghi’s defence as they look for a new centre back.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Inter are looking to tie down De Vrij to a new two-year contract, with the same €3.8m net per season wages. His agent Federico Pastorello confirmed on Sunday that the club have made contact to start discussing the deal.

The Dutch centre back wants to stay in Milan but Pastorello also highlighted that multiple Premier League sides were interested in the 30-year-old.

De Vrij, who joined Inter in 2018 on a free transfer, has made 18 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring one goal in that time.
