Inter are reportedly ready to agree a new contract with veteran defender Danilo D’Ambrosio, who is entering his ninth year with the club.

The 34-year-old Italian centre back has hardly made a dent in Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri squad this season, playing just 149 minutes of action across five Serie A appearances.

D’Ambrosio has proven himself a leader in the dressing room and wore the captain’s armband three times this season, stepping up when required.

As reported by TMW, Inter have prepared a new two-year contract for D’Ambrosio and are now resolving the final bureaucratic details, ready to confirm the veteran’s near-future at the club.

The Italian defender has been with the Nerazzurri since January 2014, joining from Torino in a deal worth around €4m. Since his arrival, he’s scored 21 goals and provided 19 assists across 269 appearances, being one of the few in the squad to experience the club’s difficult years of the previous decade.
