Inter’s deal to sign Lazar Samardzic from Udinese is off and the Nerazzurri are now planning to sign a new centre-back instead, with Benjamin Pavard and Giorgio Scalvini on their agenda.
Inter have officially retired from the race to sign the 21-year-old midfielder, who raised his salary requests in a meeting between his entourage and the club’s executives last week.
Inter and Udinese had shaken hands over a €15m deal plus Giovanni Fabbian and according to Sky Sport Italia, Beppe Marotta is planning to use this money to buy a new central defender instead.
The Italian broadcasters claim Atalanta’s Scalvini is Inter’s ‘dream’, but La Dea’s asking price is high and, most importantly, Gian Piero Gasperini is reluctant to part ways with another key player this summer after Rasmus Hojlund.
According to Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri are also plotting a bid for Bayern Munich’s Pavard, although Manchester United are leading the race for the French defender. Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah and Arsenal’s Takehiro Tomiyasu are also on Inter’s agenda, but Premier League clubs seem unwilling to sell.
