Inter’s technical manager Gabriele Oriali doesn’t know if Antonio Conte will remain in charge of the Nerazzurri and explains why he is ‘worried’ about the next season.

The Inter legend was appointed technical manager in 2019. He had already worked with Antonio Conte with Italy national team.

“Tavecchio called me in 2014, offering me to become Italy's Team Manager. I had never worked with Conte, so we met in Milan, and it took us five minutes to understand we see things the same way,” Oriali told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Tavecchio called me in 2014, offering me to become Italy's Team Manager. I had never worked with Conte, so we met in Milan, and it took us five minutes to understand we see things the same way,” Oriali told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“His preparation is incredible. Without a crowd, you could see how much Inter are organized, it’s an orchestra perfectly directed by Conte.

“The greatness of a coach is defined by the ability to pick the right people in his staff and the same is true of directors such as Marotta,” Oriali continued.

The Italian tactician argued with Lautaro Martinez during Inter-Roma, but they cleared the air with a ‘boxing match’ at Appiano Gentile the following day.

“Everything had been solved at the end of the game when Lautaro apologized to the coach and his teammates. Lukaku and Ranocchia had the idea of the boxing match and that’s further proof that this is a great and united group.

“Something important has been built, and it can last in time.”

There are, however, still issues regarding the next season. Oaktree Capital have loaned €275m to Suning, but will not purchase any Inter shares. Is Oriali worried for 2021-22?

“I am worried because there isn’t a program yet. There are no dates set for the pre-season, we haven’t been told anything.”

Will Conte stay at Inter?

“Everyone must understand the plans of the owners first.”

Inter lost 3-2 against Juventus last week, but referee Gianpaolo Calvarese made headlines with several controversial decisions.

“I am sorry for him, because he’s closing in on the end of his career. It’s been a good career and everyone will remember about this game. However, it is true that sometimes us directors do not help the referees.”
