Atletico Madrid’s confidence looked low during a 2-0 defeat to struggling Cadiz in LaLiga, just days before their Champions League showdown with Inter.

The first leg ended 1-0 to the Nerazzurri at San Siro thanks to a late Marko Arnautovic strike.

The decider for a place in the Champions League quarter-finals will be at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday evening.

Atleti were in action this afternoon and surprisingly lost 2-0 away to Cadiz, a side in the LaLiga relegation zone who had not won a game since September 1.

It was described by Marca as one of their worst performances of the season, noting they lost every duel and barely had a single shot on target.

They played without Antoine Griezmann, who is struggling with an ankle injury and remains in doubt to face Inter as well.

Thomas Lemar, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Paulo are more long-term injury absentees who are certainly out of the second leg.

Former Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul only played the first half, as he was one yellow card away from suspension in LaLiga with Barcelona coming up.

Alvaro Morata wasted their best scoring opportunity on the rebound and is expected to start against Inter.
