Inter open talks with Mourinho favourite Mkhitaryan

Inter have been in talks with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s entourage this week as they discuss a possible free transfer in the summer.

The 33-year-old Armenian forward’s contract will expire with Roma at the end of next month and renewal stalls have progressed slowly, meaning there’s a genuine risk that he could leave before an agreement is reached. The former Arsenal and Manchester United man has been a favourite of Jose Mourinho this campaign, playing a core role in the squad.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Inter are limited by financial restrictions this summer and so they’re looking at the free agent market to strengthen Simone Inzaghi’s squad. An obvious choice is Mkhitaryan, and so the Nerazzurri started talks with his entourage earlier this week.

The slow renewal negotiations with Roma could allow the Milanese club to get a foot in the door and hash out details of a possible contract with the Armenian’s entourage, putting the Giallorossi in a tough spot.

  1. If this is the calibre of players Inter are looking at, this is going to be a repeat of 2011 and the following 10 barren years. Suning should sell the club rather than dragging it down with them.
