Inter President Massimo Moratti will make one final assault for Genoa full-back Domenico Criscito and intends to offer Davide Santon in exchange.

Criscito has been the subject of great interest throughout January, although mainly from Inter's rivals Milan who have since signed Didac Vila from Espanyol.

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has recently told reporters that Criscito is 99 per cent staying at Marassi. However, La Gazzetta dello Sport understands a deal with Inter is possible.

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has recently told reporters that Criscito is 99 per cent staying at Marassi. However, La Gazzetta dello Sport understands a deal with Inter is possible.

Milan's bid apparently failed because it was a loan with an option to buy. They also didn't offer an alternative in exchange to replace Criscito.

La Gazzetta claims Inter plan to swap Santon for Criscito in a co-ownership scheme, that way Genoa will have an immediate replacement on deadline day.

Inter have already done business with Genoa this month, signing Italy international centre-back Andrea Ranocchia.

It's part of Moratti's aim to make the club more Italian amid criticism that Inter don't reflect the country in which they are based.
