Inter have reportedly offered Stefan de Vrij a new contract as they look to avoid losing the Dutchman on a free transfer in the summer.

The 30-year-old Dutch defender has been a core part of Simone Inzaghi’s squad in the Lombardy capital, forming a reliable trio alongside Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni. The Nerazzurri are waiting to hear back from Skriniar regarding their final contract offer, but the Slovakian is the not the only defender in the club’s mind.

As reported by TMW, Inter want to move forward with De Vrij, whose contract expires in the summer, and they’ve offered him a new two-year deal, with similar wages to what he currently earns.

The ball is now in the 30-year-old’s court and a decision won’t be made until after the World Cup in Qatar, where he’s competing with the Netherlands squad.

De Vrij has made 181 appearances across all competitions since joining Inter on a free transfer in July 2018.
