Palermo’s Mauricio Pinilla is the latest striker to be associated with a January switch to struggling Inter.

The Nerazzurri have been misfiring in attack this season – a reason why they’ve already lost six of their 12 League games so far.

The five strikers in their squad – Luc Castaignos, Diego Forlan, Diego Milito, Giampaolo Pazzini and Mauro Zarate – have scored just six combined in Serie A this term.

On Tuesday, the San Siro giants were paired with a possible New Year bid for Roma centre-forward Marco Borriello.

However, the transfer rumour mill has today seen Pinilla paired with a possible post-Christmas switch to the Meazza.

Inter have made it clear that they won’t spend big during the winter window, but they are keen to improve the squad.

Pinilla, 27, has scored two goals in nine Serie A appearances for the Rosanero so far during this campaign.

The Chilean joined the Sicilian outfit in the summer of 2010 after a spell with Serie B side Grosseto.
