Former Inter midfielder Nicola Berti claims the current crop have forgotten ‘the 60,000 fans they’re playing in front of and the shirt they’re wearing’.

Berti won a Serie A title and two UEFA Cups with Inter between 1988 and 1998, and the ex-Italy international was asked about the Nerazzurri’s winless start to the season.

“Inter players must understand who they’re playing in front of and the shirt they’re wearing,” he told La Repubblica.

“They owe it to the 60,000 fans at San Siro on Sunday. Spalletti must work on mentality.

“Many of their players also came back from the World Cup so after the next international break, you’ll see the real Inter.

“However, there’s something undoubtedly missing in the middle of the park. Up top, Lautaro can add quality.”
