Cristian Chivu’s agent has made it clear that his client is “not desperate” to extend his contract at Inter.

The 31-year-old is only tied to the Nerazzurri until June which means he could leave San Siro on a Bosman free transfer at the end of the season.

“We haven’t spoken to Inter yet and no meeting is planned,” Victor Becali, one of the player’s representatives, noted. “I think we will meet up at the end of this month though.

“Are we optimistic about an extension? There is no need to feel optimistic, we’re not desperate,” Becali continued. “If there is an opportunity to stay at Inter then that will be good, otherwise we’ll assess other options.”

The former Ajax and Roma stopper has been strongly paired with a possible move to Napoli at the end of the season.

“To be honest, I don’t know where certain rumours come from,” the agent commented. “I’ve received no phone call from Napoli. We have spoken to nobody!”
