Romelu Lukaku

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter directors no longer rule out Romelu Lukaku’s return in the summer, with the Chelsea striker pushing to wear the Nerazzurri shirt again.

Tuttosport reported last week that the Chelsea star has repeatedly called Inter executives and players to tell them that he is open to returning to the Stadio Meazza. The former Manchester United star is having a tough time at Stamford Bridge, where he hasn’t started a game since February. He is unhappy at Chelsea and is pushing for a return to Inter.

Lukaku asks Inter directors to return

The Nerazzurri need to balance the books and may sell some of their stars in the summer transfer window, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, their directors no longer rule out a possible return of their ex-star.

The report specifies that Inter would only afford Lukaku’s return on a loan deal. As of today, Chelsea can’t sign or sell new players because of sanctions on their owner Roman Abramovich. The Blues are in the process of changing their ownership, so Inter are waiting to know what will happen in the control room at Stamford Bridge before talking to the Premier League giants.

Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances across all competitions during his two-year spell at Inter under Antonio Conte.

  1. One article says Inter can’t afford to keep the players they currently have, one article says they’re potentially willing to buy a player who is 1 year into a lucrative 4/5 year contract who has a current value of 80-100m. What is going on?

  2. Wasn’t that long ago that Inter supporters were stating they didn’t want him back and now bring him home! What a fickle bunch you are.

  4. No! Enough of this! Why can’t they go after younger Italian talent?? For pete’s sake everyone knows Scamacca supported Inter when he was younger, so why would you opt back for Lukaku?

Give Scamacca the chance i’m sure he is so desperately craving!

This is the problem with Italian clubs in refusing to take a gamble on a young Italians. No wonder we don’t produce consistently on the National stage.

  5. Lukaku had his chance. He turned his back when he was asked to stay. He made his decision and hes got to live with it. Life goes on. We should focus on italian prospects.. and more affordable players. Lukaku should stay put. But if he does come back then welcome back!
