Inter had been in negotiations for Gabriel Jesus, but lost him to Manchester City, reveals the striker’s agent.

Now 24, he made the move from Palmeiras to Manchester City in January 2017 for €32m, but there was very nearly a change of plan.

“Inter wanted to buy Gabriel Jesus when he was still at Palmeiras and there were negotiations,” agent Giovanni Branchini said on stage at the Festival dello Sport this evening.

“Now he is at Manchester City and I don’t think he is on the market. The Brazilian’s wages are so high that I doubt he is within reach of the Italian clubs now.”

The forward is under contract with Manchester City until June 2023.

He scored three goals and provided four assists in nine competitive appearances for the club so far this season.

Despite his tender age, Gabriel Jesus already has 47 senior caps for Brazil under his belt, scoring 18 goals for his country.
