Inter are reportedly seeking transfers away from the club for both Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa in order to raise funds for new additions, with Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson suggested as Simone Inzaghi’s ideal target this summer.
The Nerazzurri have made a handful of important additions so far this summer, including the free signings of Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski, plus the arrival of goalkeeper Josep Martinez from Genoa.
But Inzaghi is still interested in adding another attacker to his ranks before the transfer window slams shut in less than a month’s time.
Inter want Gudmundsson, but must sell Correa and Arnautovic
According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Genoa’s Gudmundsson is still the prime target for the 2023-24 Scudetto winners.
However, in order to make that move remotely feasible, Inter will first need to move a few of their current first teamers on.
Arnautovic and Correa are the natural sacrifices, as the former spent last season as an understudy to Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, while the Argentine was sent out on loan to Marseille.
Both find themselves even further down the pecking order after the arrival of Taremi.
Both Correa and Arnautovic earn around €3.5m per season on their current contracts, so Inter are keen to move them on in order to free some space up on their balance sheets.
However, finding a new home for both forwards is proving to be a challenge, as Arnautovic has rejected interest from the Turkish Super Lig, while Correa has turned down offers from the Saudi Pro League.
