Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu underwent a round of medical tests today, which confirmed the presence of a slight muscle issue.

The 30-year-old Turkish regista was left on the bench for the Nerazzurri’s 4-0 away win over Lecce on Sunday evening. Simone Inzaghi explained to the press prior to the match that player had suffered a ‘problem’ in training, prompting caution for the match.

Calhanoglu is one of the most important players in Inzaghi’s Inter squad, acting as a focal point in their build-up play and a decisive figure in the final third, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in 30 games this term.

As announced in a press release today, Calhanoglu underwent a round of tests at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano, which highlighted a slight muscle strain in the adductor of his right thigh. He’ll carry out further tests in the coming days to check on the issue.

As such, the 30-year-old will not take part in the upcoming clash with Atalanta on February 28th and is also in doubt for the following game against Genoa on March 4th.
