Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was linked with Juventus, Milan, Napoli and Inter in recent months, but it is reported the Tottenham midfielder is set to join Olympique Marseille instead.

According to L’Equipe and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal has been done and is a loan with obligation to buy for a total €13.5m.

The Denmark international turns 29 next month and his price-tag has plummeted because of the contract situation, as his current bond with Tottenham Hotspur only runs to June 2025.

No Serie A move for Hojbjerg

Hojbjerg first joined Spurs from Southampton at a cost of €16.6m in the summer of 2020, while his previous clubs include Bayern Munich, Schalke 04 and Brondby.

He has 81 senior caps for Denmark, in which he scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists.

This is another coup for Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi, who only yesterday secured Mason Greenwood from Manchester United.

The winger had also been linked with Lazio, Juventus and Napoli.
