Inter and Milan have both confirmed that they want to demolish San Siro and build a new stadium alongside it.

It was reported last week that Milan and Inter had agreed plans on a new venue, which would cost around €700m to build and was anticipated to be ready by 2022.

That could now become a reality following admissions by leaders of the two clubs.

It was reported last week that Milan and Inter had agreed plans on a new venue, which would cost around €700m to build and was anticipated to be ready by 2022.

That could now become a reality following admissions by leaders of the two clubs.

“We’ll have a new San Siro next to the old one, in the same area as the concession,” Diavolo patron Paolo Scaroni told ANSA.

“The old one will be knocked down and, in its place, there will be new constructions going up.”

Nerazzurri CEO Alessandro Antonello added when asked if his club would build the new stadium with their city rivals: “Yes, absolutely.”

It now remains to be seen whether Milan mayor Beppe Sala will sign off the plans, given he has already voiced his preference for San Siro to be modernised.
