"F.C. International Milan S.p.A. and A.C. Milan S.p.A. communicate that they have signed a memorandum of understanding confirming their willingness to work together on a project for the construction of a modern, state-of-the-art stadium," the Nerazzurri announced in a statement.
"A ground adapted to modern standards is essential to allow fans to enjoy a unique experience and to ensure success both on and off the field.
"The two clubs believe that a shared stadium is in the interest of all stakeholders from a financial, administrative and technical point of view.
"The two clubs are evaluating a series of possible options, including the restructuring of the San Siro stadium, and have restarted the analysis of the various alternatives through the establishment of a joint working group.
"The clubs believe they can conclude this first exploratory phase by the end of 2018, in order to proceed quickly with the planning and administrative activities required to deliver their fans a modern stadium in the shortest possible time.
"Yesterday the two Clubs met with the Mayor, reopening a constructive and fruitful dialogue with the aim of deepening the option of modernisation of the San Siro area."
