Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is at risk of losing another midfield option for Sunday’s clash against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Poland international Piotr Zielinski is already sure of missing the Nerazzurri’s first game after the international break, during which he scored with his side before sustaining a muscle injury which was confirmed by medical tests on Thursday.

Inter: Asllani’s defection could further reduce Inzaghi’s midfield options

Midfielder Kristjan Asllani reportedly picked up a knock during a training session on Friday and could be ruled out of Inter’s away fixture at Rome, scheduled for Sunday night.

As quoted by Fcinternews, Sky Sport Italia reported that the Nerazzurri will reassess the Albany international’s conditions on Saturday, the day before the game, to see whether he’ll be available to travel with the squad.

With Zielinski already ruled out, Asllani’s defection would leave Inzaghi with only four options for his midfield trio, as Nicolò Barella has recovered from injury and should be back into the starting XI, despite having been out of action for about a month.

Despite making five Serie A appearances, Asllani only started one game this season in Inter’s 1-1 draw at Monza.
