Inter director Beppe Marotta admits the Nerazzurri have cooled their interest in Paulo Dybala and hopes Simone Inzaghi remains at the club for many years.
The Nerazzurri director met the media ahead of Inzaghi’s press conference at Appiano Gentile today. The Serie A giants will begin their pre-season tomorrow.
Marotta spoke about the future of Paulo Dybala and his possible move to Inter after the end of his contract with Juventus.
The Nerazzurri met the player’s agent several weeks ago, but there haven’t been developments since the return of Romelu Lukaku to the club.
“Dybala is part of the many players available for free. I had never seen so many and it proves that football is changing and that more courage is needed at a youth level,” said Marotta.
“Dybala represented and still represents an opportunity, but we are ok in attack with valuable players who the coach will need to manage in the best way even if I have a solid bond with Dybala.”
Marotta signed Dybala at Juventus in 2015 for €40m. The Argentinean striker is still available as a free agent, with Napoli, Milan and new Serie A boys Monza also interested.
The former Juventus director continued by discussing the club’s target for next season.
“I’ll just quickly mention the last season, which had a bittersweet taste. We added two more trophies to our cabinet, but the second place in Serie A left a bitter taste in our mouths showing that the difference between winners and runners-up is minimal.
“An important update is the contract extension of our coach, which is the result of a great rapport that we’ve built from last year after some turbulences in the summer. The renewal was natural because Inzaghi proved to be up to the task. He has the skills to remain with us for a long time and be one of the best coaches.”
Inzaghi signed a new deal with Inter at the end of June, extending his stay at the club until 2024.
“I thank my collaborators Ausilio and Baccin, who are working really well to build a competitive team for our targets,” Marotta continued.
“In football, the bar must be very high. You must have the courage to win and not be afraid to lose. We come back intending to win and be highly competitive.
“Sustainability is crucial for continuity, we have this target, which doesn’t mean not being competitive. The market can be creative and intuitive. We have two more months ahead; even if the season will start in between, it’s an anomalous campaign.
“The target is to add more trophies to our cabinet. Work and a sense of belonging are the principles that must guide us to the maximum.”
Grande Beppe.
Seems like another message to Dybala`s agent and we need to offload 1 to sign 1.
With or without dybala Seria A is ours insha allah
I think without Dybala Serie A is ours. Can’t see him fitting in the formation, unless Calhanoglu keeps jumping off boats and is offloaded 😉
So, Aldi Messi is too expensive. So much for all those big clubs lining up to snap up this amazing deal…Juve will be made to pay, treated him badly, eccetera eccetera.
I’d give up Dzeko, Calhanoglu and Mhikitarayan for Dybala. Dybala needs to go ASAP. I’ll be so disappointed if Inter don’t secure him. He’s the missing piece.
@Carletto I think Dybala already have a personal agreement with the Inter directors and he knows he has way better chance of achieving his goals if he goes to Inter with an added bonus of moving somewhere else if he does well which will benefit Inter. Just like Chiesa I see Dybala as an impact sub player who can come in and use defenders tiredness to their advantage but for starting it’s too easy for him to be figured out by defenders.
I’d be glad if Napoli use this as an opportunity to snatch up Dybala
