Croatia’s quarter-final win over Brazil means that an Inter player is guaranteed to take part in the World Cup final, maintaining an incredible four-decade run.

The Selecao were left in tears at the Education City Stadium after an incredibly difficult loss to Croatia on penalties, ruining their dreams of a sixth world title. Croatia held firm in the clash and will be confident of their chances in the semi-finals, when they’ll face the winner of Netherlands-Argentina.

As highlighted by Inter, a Nerazzurri player has taken part in every World Cup final since 1982 and this run will continue in the 2022 edition of the tournament. There’s at least one Inter player in the Croatia, Netherlands and Argentina squads, meaning this incredible record will be extended, regardless of the results on this side of the bracket.

The three Inter players who could maintain this record are: the Netherlands’ Denzel Dumfries, Croatia’s Marcelo Brozovic and Argentina’s Lautaro Martinez.
