Inter lose late on to RC Lens

Inter were beaten 1-0 by RC Lens in a friendly match, conceding a last-minute goal from a corner, having improved once Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez came on.

Simone Inzaghi initially left their Lu-La pairing on the bench for this trip to France, opting for Edin Dzeko and Tucu Correa upfront, with Milan Skriniar, Robin Gosens, Alexis Sanchez and Roberto Gagliardini unavailable.

Fofana drilled just wide, then Samir Handanovic had to be on his toes dealing with a poor back-pass and when parrying the shot from Florian Sotoca.

Handanovic out-did himself with a fine save on Ignatius Ganago’s header, but it was a surprisingly tense game with several bookings.

The big guns came on after the hour mark, and Inter did create better chances, with Lukaku denied by a desperate point-blank range save on Valentin Lazaro’s assist and Lautaro Martinez firing over the bar.

It was Lens who scored in the final minute with a Lois Openda flick-on at the near post from a corner to surprise Alex Cordaz.
