With Andre Onana increasingly close to Manchester United, Inter have now reportedly turned to Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Multiple Italian sources including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia are confident a deal with United will be done eventually for circa €55m including bonuses.

The offer hasn’t quite reached that level yet, but they are edging closer to the point at which Inter will capitulate.

The Nerazzurri therefore need to find a replacement and the latest intriguing option mentioned is 36-year-old France international Lloris.

His contract with Spurs only runs to June 2024 and the arrival of Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli opens up a path to taking over the gloves in London.

Ironically, Vicario had been the Inter first choice to replace Onana and they were beaten to the post by Tottenham.

According to Footmercato and L’Equipe in France, Inter are now stepping up the pressure on Lloris over the last 24 hours.

Lloris himself had told Nice-Matin newspaper in June that this was “the end of an era. I have desire for other things and will ask myself to look at what could be possible.”

If Inter do sign Lloris, they could also bring in Anatolij Trubin from Shakhtar Donetsk to ensure someone still has experience.

Samir Handanovic’s Inter contract has now expired, but they are ‘evaluating’ the possibility of a new deal.
