Hakan Calhanoglu has proven himself a key part of Simone Inzaghi’s Inter squad and the club are looking to reward him with a new contract, reports suggest.

The 28-year-old Turkish midfielder joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer last year, ending a four-year spell with intercity rivals Milan. Since his arrival, Calhanoglu has scored 11 goals and provided 18 assists for Inter, netting an absolutely vital goal against Barcelona in the Champions League last month.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Inter have been very happy with Calhanoglu’s work at the club and aren’t keen to lose him in 2024, when his contract expires. In the coming months, the Nerazzurri management will sit down with the Turkish midfielder’s entourage to try and hash out a new contract.

The 28-year-old Calhanoglu will not be taking part in the World Cup in Qatar, leaving him available for Inzaghi and Inter across this six-week international break.
