Inter are preparing to possibly lose defender Milan Skriniar in the January transfer window and have set their sights on Chelsea man Trevoh Chalobah, reports suggest.

The 27-year-old Slovakian centre back was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer but a deal never materialised as the Nerazzurri held firm on their €70m+ valuation. With less than a year left on his contract, a departure from the Lombardy capital is now looking increasingly likely for Skriniar, forcing Inter to begin searching for replacements.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter had their eye on Chalobah in the past and still consider him a top option to replace Skriniar, should the Slovakian depart over the next two transfer windows.

The key to a possible deal would be Romelu Lukaku, who has already started work trying to help get his friend to the north of Italy. The 23-year-old Englishman has hardly featured this campaign in West London, playing only 90 minutes of Premier League action in the 2-1 win over Leicester City last month.
