Inter have reportedly told Genoa that they will not use their €20m buy-back option on Andrea Pinamonti.

The 21-year-old striker was sold to Genoa for €19.5m after a loan spell, and the plan had been for Inter to buy him back for €20m.

However, FCInterNews.it claim the Nerazzurri informed Genoa that they will not activate their option.

This has thoroughly irritated Genoa, who now find themselves stuck with the young forward and must find another buyer.

It is also another sign that Inter are working on a very tight cash basis, cutting down all unnecessary expenditure on the transfer market.

They already pulled out of a deal for Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, leaving him to Milan instead, and decided not to purchase Cristiano Biraghi from Fiorentina after his loan.

Pinamonti was considered to be one of the brightest prospects created by the Inter academy in years and he also had a loan experience at Frosinone in 2018-19.

However, Antonio Conte and the Nerazzurri have decided not to bring him back to base, while new Genoa coach Rolando Maran doesn’t see him as part of his plans either.

Pinamonti scored seven goals and provided three assists in 34 games for Genoa last season.
