Although his move to PSG as a free agent is practically certain now, Inter will not strip Milan Skriniar of the captain’s armband and are looking to LOSC defender Tiago Djalò as his replacement.

Multiple sources this week confirmed Skriniar has told Inter he will not sign the new contract proposal, so will evaluate other options as it runs down on June 30.

Today Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier confessed in a press conference that he wasn’t sure whether Skriniar would “arrive in January or the summer,” effectively confirming the deal is done.

Despite knowing he will walk away for free just months after Inter rejected offers worth €60m, La Gazzetta dello Sport insists Inter will not strip Skriniar of the captain’s armband.

This is also because once Marcelo Brozovic returns to full fitness, the Croatia international will take over as captain anyway, with Danilo D’Ambrosio next in the seniority charts.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are also looking to the future and their first choice to replace Skriniar at the heart of the defence is Giorgio Scalvini, but they also realise Atalanta want circa €50m.

A more affordable option would be 22-year-old Portugal international Tiago Djalò, who is only under contract with LOSC until June 2024.

He has some brief experience of life in Italy, having spent six months in the Milan youth academy before his €4m sale to Lille in 2019.

The asking price here would be closer to €15-20m.

  1. @Gino, unfortunately, it pretty much is…and considering how management treated him during the summer I really can’t blame him. However, greater players have left inter and we still won so I don’t think it’s going to be different this time. Players come and go but the club is eternal

  2. He’s going to PSG they offer more money plus a signing fee for about 25 mil to the player which is incentive for Skriniar to refuse to extend Inter can’t compete with those terms. How’s that legal I don’t know but on my eyes Skriniar is another mercenary and should not continue to play and wait for his precious PSG move let alone keep playing him as a captain.
