Inter are still in the market for a new defender this transfer window, and recent reports suggest that they could be interested in a deal for young Argentinian defender Toma Palacios, according to updates on Wednesday afternoon.

Inter look for defensive additions

The Nerazzurri are keen to add another defender to their ranks this summer after losing wing-back Tajon Buchanan to a broken Tibia earlier this summer.

Instead of replacing Buchanan directly, Simone Inzaghi and his team could look to bring in another centre-back and use Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian to cover the gap left by the Canadian out on the flank.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter’s ideal profile would be a young, left-sided defender, preferably from outside Serie A, where the club feel they could get better value for money.

The above criteria has sent them in the direction of Talleres de Cordoba centre-back Tomas Palacios, who is currently out on loan with Independiente Rivadavia.

The towering 21-year-old, who has drawn comparisons to Alessandro Bastoni due to his physique and style of play, has made 15 appearances this calendar year in the Argentine Primera Division.
