The 2021-22 season really could be a case of deja vu for fans of Inter, Milan and Juventus with the campaign on course to mirror 2010-11.

On that occasion, reigning champions Inter conceded their title to rivals Milan but claimed success in the Coppa Italia while Juventus finished trophyless.

Furthermore, just as with this season, Inter also won the Supercoppa in 2010 as they beat Roma 3-1. Earlier this season they won their first Supercoppa since then with a 2-1 win over Juve.

Inter have already won the Coppa Italia while Juve are guaranteed to finish without a trophy.

Milan are not yet guaranteed to win the Scudetto – a triumph which would represent their first since the 2010-11 season when Massimiliano Allegri was manager – but they have their destiny in their own hands.

Four points from their final two matches, at home to Atalanta and away to Sassuolo, would see them confirmed as title winners.

In 2010-11, Milan finished on 82 points, which is only two more than they have this campaign with two matches remaining, while Inter’s current tally of 78 is already two more than they reached 11 seasons ago.

A fourth-place finish for Juve in 2021-22, however, would be a significant improvement on 2010-11 when they finished seventh.
