Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is upset he will be suspended in the next Serie A game against Roma but feels Hakan Calhanoglu is one of the best playmakers in the world.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke at a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia on Sunday night, following a 1-0 win over Juventus.

Inter are now four points clear of the Bianconeri at the top of the Serie A table with a game in hand. Inzaghi praised all his players during his post-match press conference but treated Inter’s opponents Milan and Juventus the same way, claiming that, in a different league, the Nerazzurri would have had a bigger gap from the second and third-placed.

Nevertheless, the bad news of the night for the Piacenza-born coach was that he received a yellow card in the second half, which means he will be suspended next weekend when the Nerazzurri visit Daniele De Rossi’s Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Three key Inzaghi quotes from post-match Juventus press conference

Suspension – “The yellow card hurts a lot. Many others were deserved, but tonight was the Derby d’Italia. It was a tense game, but the players on the pitch were correct. Unfortunately, I left the technical area, and this is a heavy yellow card for me. Thinking that I won’t be on the bench on Saturday leaves a bit of bitterness as I would have liked to live the next game close to my guys.”

Scudetto – “We can say that we deserved to win, but it’s just a step and we must congratulate Juventus and Milan too. Inter won 18 games from 22, so congratulations to them as well because the race is still open, and the gap would have been bigger in other leagues.”

Is Calhanoglu among the best playmakers in the world? – “Absolutely, yes. He was so good, but it would be fair to mention all players after such a game. Everyone played so well even those who were introduced from the bench. Everyone gave their contribution.”
