Inter issues ultimatum to Brozovic over contract extension

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Marcelo Brozovic is likely to leave Inter as a free agent at the end of the season if he doesn’t sign a contract extension with Inter in the next two months.

The Croatia international sees his €3.5m-a-year deal expire at the end of the season.

Beppe Marotta is confident that Brozovic will eventually sign a new deal with the Serie A champions, but Inter are running out of time.

The 28-year-old will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any other club in January ahead of a free move in the summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport mentions PSG and Atletico Madrid as two of the most interested clubs in signing Brozovic. According to different reports in Italy, Tottenham and Newcastle are also keeping an eye on the Croat.

Inter to meet Brozovic next week amid PSG, Newcastle and Tottenham rumours

Tuttosport had reported Inter would meet Brozovic’s entourage next week, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport the summit hasn’t been confirmed yet.

The Nerazzurri want Brozovic to sign a new deal by the end of the year. Otherwise, it’s unlikely that he will stay at San Siro.

Inter don’t want to affect Simone Inzaghi’s work on the pitch, so they are in a hurry to solve the situation, one way or another. However, the Serie A champions are not open to selling their midfielder in January.
