According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Inter boss Simone Inzaghi snubbed Paulo Dybala in the summer, deciding against selling Joaquin Correa.

La Joya has had a great start to the season with Roma and scored the equaliser against the Nerazzurri in a 2-1 win at San Siro on Saturday.

After holding talks with Beppe Marotta and Inter, Dybala joined José Mourinho as a free agent in the summer.

Reports in Italy had suggested that the Serie A giants could not afford to sign Dybala without selling one of their strikers. According to Gazzetta, Inzaghi refused to sell Correa, so the Nerazzurri didn’t have the financial resources to get his compatriot on a free transfer.

Correa joined Inter on loan from Lazio in 2021 with an obligation to buy for €31m. According to the report, Inzaghi refused a possible sale for the Argentina international in the summer, so Inter could not buy another striker after Romelu Lukaku’s return to the club.

The pink paper claims President Steven Zhang had given the green light to sign Dybala provided that another striker would be sold.

Correa played under Inzaghi at Lazio, scoring 30 goals in 117 appearances at the Stadio Olimpico. Last season, he netted six goals in 36 games across all competitions with the Nerazzurri.

Inzaghi commented on the report during his pre-match press conference on the eve of the game with Barcelona: “On Lukaku and Dybala a choice was made together. In my situation, I’ve already said that we coaches depend on results, if they don’t come the coach is the first one questioned. I’m used to it.”

  1. I thought the failure to have the squad match fit for the beginning of this season was sackable. But this alone says everything about him. Inzaghi, you need to go

  2. Irlandese, yes, it says everything about him.

That he is a GOOD MAN.

Inzaghi showed that he is loyal, honourable and moral.
For that I respect him & wish him the best.
