Inter: Inzaghi confirms Handanovic’s return against Torino

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi says Samir Handanovic will return to the starting XI in the next Serie A game against Torino.

The Nerazzurri suffered a 2-0 loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last night, in a game that saw André Onana make his debut with the Serie A giants.

He had joined Inter on a free transfer from Ajax but watched the opening five Serie A games on the bench.

He produced a good performance despite Bayern’s loss and according to Italian papers, he was among the best players on the pitch for Inter.

Inzaghi will rotate the Cameroon international and Handanovic this season and confirmed last night that the captain would return between the stick in the upcoming league fixture against Torino.

The Nerazzurri will host the Granata at the Stadio Meazza on Saturday.

“It’s not a definitive choice. On Saturday, against Torino, Handanovic will play,” he said.

Inzaghi also explained his decision to keep Nicolò Barella on the bench for 90 minutes against the Bundesliga giants last night.

“I chose to give him some rest, he has been dealing with a minor problem since the start of the season, but he always wants to play. I was about to introduce him when we were 1-0 down, but then we suffered the second goal.

“Even tonight, like against Real and Liverpool, I had the feeling that we could have hurt them, but we didn’t do it,” he continued.

“We were too much in a hurry, always missing the final pass.”
