Hakan Calhanoglu is expected to return to the Inter squad for their clash with Empoli but it’s a different story for Juan Cuadrado.

Both players were left behind by the Nerazzurri for their trip to Spain, where they drew Real Sociedad 1-1 in their Champions League opener. It was not a positive evening for the club, but their salvaged point helped digest the draw.

Calhanoglu has already proven himself a key part of Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri setup, whilst Cuadrado is an experienced reinforcement who could make the difference across the season.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Calhanoglu returned to squad training this morning at Appiano Gentile and is now expected to start against Empoli on Sunday.

Cuadrado was on the pitch this morning but did not train with his teammates, instead carrying out individual exercises. He is set to return in time for the mid-week clash with Sassuolo on September 27, missing the trip to Tuscany.
