Inter are in constant contact with Bayern Munich as they hope to complete the deal for goalkeeper Yann Sommer within the next 48 hours.

The Nerazzurri are currently without any first team goalkeepers following the sale of Andre Onana to Manchester United and the departure of Samir Handanovic on a free transfer.

Sommer has long been identified as Inter’s first choice option but Bayern Munich have not been keen to give the green light to a move until they find a replacement, and were recently linked with Brentford’s David Raya.

Page nine of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how a flurry of emails and phone calls bounced between Milan, Munich and Tokyo yesterday as Inter pushed to finalise the Sommer transfer with Bayern.

The Nerazzurri are ready to pay around €4-4.5m for the Swiss goalkeeper, which is less than his €6m release clause, and they’ve already verbally agreed the terms of a two-year contract with an option for a third.

Inter would love Sommer to join the squad during their pre-season tour in Japan and hope to close out the deal within the next 48 hours, but must wait for Bayern’s green light.
