The Uruguayan has been perhaps the biggest disappointment in a poor campaign and he is aware of the problems.

“I am very happy at Inter. It has been a difficult season due to the injury and the moment the team is going through,” Forlan told Sky Sport Italia.

“In my career I have been through difficult moments before. You have to understand where you’re going wrong and work to make sure things change. Since I have been at Inter, you have not seen the real Forlan.

“I take it one game at a time, as I always have done. I feel that I can do well and will try to do better every match. If I play well then of course I am happy, so right now I’m not happy.”

With this disappointing campaign, Forlan has been heavily linked with a transfer over the summer.

“I would hate to leave Inter like this. I like the challenge, to play and do well. I always wanted to come to Inter and now I have that opportunity I don’t want to leave when the team is not in good shape. I want to stay here and do well.”
