Fassone, in a long interview with Tuttosport, was asked how far they'd come in the process of bringing Inter back to its former glories.

“We're halfway there, we've finished the sale of the club from [Massimo] Moratti to [Erick] Thohir and finished the historical cycle 2006-11. We're starting afresh, but there's still a long way to go.

“After Calciopoli [in 2006], Juventus only won in 2012. We won in 2010 and I don't know if we'll be ready by 2016.

“That said, with the arrival of [Coach Roberto] Mancini we began the last phase of reconstruction, and next season, with the team closer to what he wants it to be, we'll be able to compete with the top teams.”
