Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi admits he didn’t mean to assist Lautaro Martinez for Inter’s late equaliser against Real Sociedad: ‘I was lucky.’

The Italy international was introduced in the second half and contributed to Inter’s late draw with a shot from the edge of the box that turned into an assist for Lautaro Martinez.

Frattesi watched the replay before his post-match interview with Amazon Prime Italia and started it by admitting: “I was lucky.”

The Italian expression he used was a little ruder (“che culo”), but pundits appreciated his honesty.

Frattesi admitted Inter faced a tough task at the Anoeta Stadium “especially the first half.”

“We expected it, but of course, games must be played,” continued the Italian midfielder.

“They give something more at home, but we improved in the second half and we made them struggle.”

Why were Inter so different from Saturday’s derby?

“Many players have played a lot of games, so it’s normal,” argued Frattesi.

“It was the first Champions League derby after a demanding derby so it can happen. It was important to take one point at home. Surely we can still improve and we can do more.”
