Inter are now down to the final details in discussions for young Argentine defender Tomas Palacios, and recent reports suggest that the Nerazzurri are confident of having a deal wrapped up by the beginning of next week.

Inter have identified Palacios as their next centre-back prospect. Tall and left-footed, he is most similar in profile to current Italy star Alessandro Buongriono, but the club see his future pathway taking a similar route to that of Yann Aurel Bisseck, who came in as a relative unknown last season, and is now starting in Serie A under Simone Inzaghi.

Palacios currently plays for Independiente Rivadavia on loan from Talleres in the Argentine Primera Division. Both clubs have been involved in negotiations, as Independiente have an option to acquire 50% of the player’s rights

In fact, Independiente Rivadavia directors flew to Italy for talks with Nerazzurri representatives earlier this week.

Where Inter stand in talks for Palacios

Inter are ‘confident’ that they will have a deal for Palacios concluded by the beginning of next week, according to the latest updates from Gianluca Di Marzio

The involved parties are nearing an agreement over a fee worth €6.5m, plus bonuses, which could eventually take the figure up to €11m. There will reportedly be ‘easily-achievable’ and more complicated add-ons involved.
