Inter fear Cuadrado needs Achilles surgery

Inter could be forced to go back onto the transfer market in January, as there are reports Juan Cuadrado’s Achilles tendon issue requires a surgical intervention.

The former Juventus veteran has been struggling all season with the recurring problem in his Achilles tendon, which resulted in him making only nine appearances between Serie A and the Champions League.

According to Sky Sport Italia, it flared up yet again following the 0-0 Champions League draw with Real Sociedad on Tuesday evening.

The medical staff are now concerned that Cuadrado can only resolve it once and for all with surgery, which could keep him out for a couple of months.

It is also a risky operation, considering the Colombia international turned 35 in May.

His natural replacement on the right would be Matteo Darmian, but he is often used in central defence to fill in for injured Benjamin Pavard and Stefan de Vrij.

There are also suggestions Carlos Augusto is trying a new role on the right, as he is normally on the left or even in the back three.
