Circa 100 Inter fans were milling around the airport this evening, but were forced to leave because Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku will not arrive tonight.

The centre-forward is due to have his medical in Milan on Wednesday morning, after Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani.

Perhaps because it is not a particularly early appointment, Lukaku has decided not to fly in this evening, having been on vacation in Sardinia.

Around 100 Inter supporters were at the private jet section of Linate Airport this evening, but the gates were closed and they were told there will be no more jets scheduled to land tonight.

The Inter ultras warned in a statement they would not greet Lukaku at the airport the way they did in 2019 when he first joined from Manchester United, as they were still hurt that he walked away for the €113m move to Chelsea last summer.

Perhaps in order to avoid the smaller crowd, Lukaku would seem to be coming in for his Inter medical tomorrow morning in a more quiet fashion.

  1. The Ultras are not speaking for Inter fans on this occasion. Not sure what got their panties in a twist, but I think they are afraid of losing face, because they were so vocal against him after he WAS SOLD BY SUNING.

  2. @LUIGI: Great business by Suning in this case, but a player cannot be sold until he accepts the contract.

Just look at Skriniar – how many times Inter was about to sell him in the past years? He just kept rejecting this option.
