La Gazzetta dello Sport are warning of devastating consequences if Inter miss out on Champions League qualification, including the sale of Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolò Barella and potentially Lautaro Martinez.

The Nerazzurri are hitting the panic buttons after Roma caught them in joint fourth place, leapfrogged by Milan and falling further behind Lazio.

Now that their place in the 2023-24 edition of the Champions League is genuinely at risk, reports are considering what that would realistically mean for the future of the club.

Failing to enter Europe’s top tier would take approximately €50m off the budget and would not be lowered by their progress to the quarter-finals this term.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it would also prompt a general lowering of expectations going forward, such as a salary cap and further cost-cutting measures.

This includes the sale of some big stars to raise funds, with midfielder Barella linked to Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City eyeing centre-back Bastoni and striker Lautaro Martinez wanted by Barcelona.
