Inter held their first meeting with Marcus Thuram’s entourage on the sidelines of the World Cup in Qatar yesterday, reports detail.

The Nerazzurri sent sporting director Piero Ausilio and vice president Javier Zanetti to Qatar to personally meet with the 25-year-old Frenchman and his representatives, keen to explore a move ahead of the January transfer window. Thuram’s contract expires with Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of the season and he could likely be signed in a low-cost deal.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the first concrete talks between Inter and Thuram’s entourage took place yesterday, confirming that the Frenchman was open to the move to Lombardy but also that he wasn’t in a hurry to leave Germany.

Borussia Monchengladbach want around €10m for the 25-year-old French forward and this poses a slight obstacle for the Nerazzurri as well, although they’re planning to launch a move in January regardless.

This season, Thuram has scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 17 games across all competitions.
