Samir Handanovic is set to be offered a new Inter contract before the end of this month, despite the imminent arrival of André Onana from Ajax.

The 37-year-old Slovenian shot stopper’s contract expires with the Nerazzurri at the end of this campaign and it seemed as if the player’s 10-year adventure in the Lombardy capital could come to an end, but now all signs are pointing to a renewal.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, the contract renewal talks between Inter and Handanovic will take place during or after the March international break, meaning that significant updates are expected before the end of this month.

Handanovic wants to stay with the Nerazzurri and he’s not particularly concerned by Onana’s arrival, appreciating that the club need to plan ahead for the future.

The former Udinese man is likely to sign a two-year contract with a lower salary than the current €3.5m net per season he earns in Milan. He will remain the club’s starter for next season, giving Onana some time to adapt before taking over the reins.
